The inspiration for the Free City Project comes from the Free State Project.
The Free State Project is a movement of thousands of freedom-loving people to New Hampshire. By concentrating their efforts in one small state with a pre-existing pro-liberty culture, they are turning the tide against big government, and we’re experiencing the benefits of expanded personal and economic freedoms.

The Free City Project follows the same logic as the Free State Project, that if all of the freedom loving individuals and families concentrate their efforts in one small city with a pre-existing pro-liberty culture, we can turn the tide against big government and high taxes. Fairview Heights is a small city in the St. Louis Metro East with already low school property taxes and no city property taxes.
Our Location
Fairview Heights is located in the southwest corner of the State of Illinois about 13 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. The population of Fairview Heights is 15,034. Fairview Heights’ proximity to St. Louis makes it ideal for manufacturing and retail industries.
This growing community offers all the advantages of a St. Louis Metro location, yet retains small town hospitality and well planned travel routes. Fairview Heights is a local center of retail trade and tourism for all of Southwestern Illinois. St. Clair Square Mall is a shopper’s paradise offering a variety of shops and restaurants.
Located just minutes away from Busch Stadium, Edward Jones Dome, Scottrade Center Center, Gateway International Raceway, Fairmont Park Racetrack, and Forest Park, which features The St Louis Zoo, The Science Center and the Missouri History Museum. Our residents and visitors also enjoy the St Louis professional sports teams, which include the St Louis Cardinals and The St. Louis Blues.
