Property Taxes

Property taxes are a scourge on families, elderly, and widows. Even if you own your house, you’ll never stop paying the government to live there.

The first step to controlling your tax burden is to know how to shop around. Click the link below to access St. Clair County’s Property Tax Inquiry

Check Your Taxes

Once there, use an address (or other search criteria) to find the property you are interested in.

Pay careful attention to the Tax Year selected. This also allows you to see the tax history of this property.

Taxing Bodies

The “Taxing Bodies” portion of the report allows you to see where all your tax dollars go.

Assessments

The “Assessments” portion of the report can be confusing. When reading dollar amounts, multiply the total by ‘3’ to get the actual assessment amount.
